Why all the fuss about lights?

Artificial lighting can cause disorientation or misorientation of both adults and hatchlings.  Hatchlings emerge and head towards a light source...which in their natural setting would be the moon shining over the ocean.  When they emerge and head towards artificial lighting the results are not pretty...

This little one was headed over the dunes towards A1A - away from the ocean. 

That is why we post Sea Turtle Conservation signs along the beach areas.
